Ride to Roing and a visit to a Farm

Day 26 and 27 of Pedal the Himalaya tour.
The day began with a quick bite at a Dambuk ‘line hotel’, the local variation of a dhaba and an uneventful 35 kms but beautiful ride through the thick jungle to Bomjir in the lower valley of Dibang district. The jungle is so dense that even light does not penetrate it. We crossed the huge Dibang river over the Bomjir Bridge and by which time my knee was beginning to give a lot of trouble. In the heat it was a very difficult time for us to manage everything but luckily the homestay lady requested her husband to pick us up for the last 12 kms. Over the next days we stayed at the warm and friendly Mibo Homestay in Roing to help my knee recover to some extent with some amazing intervention by Ashim with ice and functional pain relief training.
We also visited the rice farmlands around us with our hosts to cut palm leaf for serving hot food , fresh bamboo shoots, and various organic wild vegetables. Towards the end of the second day I also visited the local vegetable and meat market to explore and discover. I wanted to buy some vegetables but small quantities but the women vegetable sellers don’t sell by weight but by ‘pack’. They make a bundle of vegetables of each type and sell like that. Though it was interesting it was also a bit inconvenient for us as we were on bicycles and could not buy such a large quantity.
