Ride to Kaho Village on LAC, Arunachal

Day 37 of our Pedal the Himalaya tour.
After riding 415 kms from Pasighat, we became the first ever unsupported adventure cyclists to reach Kaho, the first Indian village on the easternmost road of India in Arunachal Pradesh, barely a few kms from the LAC.
Earlier in the day we chose to cycle on the road across the river from Dong so had to cross an old swaying suspension bridge across the Lohit river after winding through a trail in the forest to reach it and then pushing the bikes all the way up to the road. The road to Kaho was a well made one, however just a narrow strip of black tar, which we loved, running along cut rock faces, towering pine forest mountains. What I saw was one of the the most amongst gorgeous landscapes – our very own version of the Rockies.
Rain clouds had gathered by the early afternoon and it tuned windy and cold, yet the weather could not dampen our enthusiasm and excitement of finally reaching the end of the road at Kaho village the border checkpoint near the LAC.
