About Us

We’re on a mission to Pedal the Himalaya

In September 2023, Dhruv and Ashim embarked on a spectacular, gruelling, and life-impacting bicycle journey of adventure and exploration of the Indian Himalaya. The husband – wife team are pioneering mountain touring in India by cycling with all their gear, unsupported, from the Himalayan ranges in the north-east of India to the jagged heights of high-altitude mountain passes of Ladakh and Kashmir. They will cycle over 6000 kilometres of roads and ‘no roads’ across the length of the Himalayan ranges, in expedition style, achieving an elevation gain of over 150,000 metres and cycle on various routes in the Himalayan states of Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh U.T., and Jammu & Kashmir.

Dhruv Bogra

I am an expeditionary cyclist, writer, amateur nature and adventure photographer, motivation speaker and transformation coach. I have cycled over 50,000 kms in the last decade, of which more than 20,000 kms are on a bicycle tour. I am also a business leader with 35 years experience in the corporate sector in India. My first book, ‘Grit, Gravel and Gear’ chronicles the 400-day solo bicycling journey from the Arctic to the Andes in 2016–17. It was among the top 100 titles in Crossword bookstores in 2019 and secured many good reviews from leading dailies and publications. ‘Away’ is my second book, in which I share thrilling accounts of bicycle expeditions undertaken by me in the Indian Himalaya.

Ashim Shatsang

I am an internationally certified yoga teacher and energy healer with three years experience in transforming the fitness of young people. Proud to belong to the famous Tangkhul Naga tribe from Manipur. I am deeply attached to the values and traditions of my tribe, I love Nature and have a good working knowledge of indigenous medicinal plants and ways of life. I chose the life of adventure on a bicycle last year , of exploring the world and meeting people from all sections of society and cultures.

The Purpose

We are exploring life in the Himalayan region from the saddle of a bicycle, traveling slowly, absorbing the local culture, customs, and beliefs of the indigenous people and mountain settlers, as well as the fantastic wildlife of these regions. Our endeavor is to share and spread the message of ‘preserving the culture and customs of the indigenous people of the Himalaya, protecting the wilderness and forests, wildlife and Himalayan glaciers.’ We also want to promote ‘adventure cycling’ and the ideal of ‘living with grit’ as it builds a greater awareness of the wilderness and more self-confidence and resilience.
