Shillong, The Pearl of the East

After Mawlyngbna, we went back to Shillong for Christmas. The city is alive with Christmas festivities and we wanted to be part of the service, the cheer and the music. No where was this more evident, when we dropped in for a coffee at popular Cafe in Mawlai, Shillong called the Three Little Birds Bistro. Julian the mom and owner is the happiest person I met on this tour so far. Her husband was fun too. She laughed at the end of every sentence and attributed her carefree nature and laughter to living in the moment and the present instead of chasing money and worrying about the future. Her cafe theme is dedicated to Bob Marley, one of my favourite musicians, a legend who was the conscience of freedom and peace for the world. But the cafe is named so not only because of the famous song but because she has three children! Anyhow playing the song Three Little Birds by Bob Marley as the chaotic and war torn world really needs to hear it today. On Christmas Day we visited the Shillong Baptist Church and spent some time in the service which was really uplifting.
